SUDDEN DEATH

Last Sunday took place a terrible fright in Salamanca’s football field. A footballer of Salamanca´s team suffered a heart attack while he is playing a football match. His playermates were very scared because he seemed being death. Immediately doctors of both teams jumped into the field to treat him. One of them insert him a tube so that he could not swallow his tongue. They made him cardiac massage and took him to the Hospital. His name is Miguel García. He spent the whole night at ICU and the next day he was out of danger. However he will not can keep playing football anymore. I suppose that all his playmates for a moment remembered another tragic cases like Antonio Puerta or Daniel Jarque.

Miguel García’s Doctor saved his life. This thing don’t happened because of excessive physical effort. This is called “sudden death” . There are more than twenty thousands sudden deaths in Spain each year. Only about twenty cases happen in people who are doing sport. If Miguel García would have suffered that heart attack at his home, or driving or in the supermarket, he would have died. He was lucky since had two doctors treating him at once.

Last tuesday another young footballer suffered the same thing in Melide ( Galicia ). He fell on the ground and his playmates phoned an ambulance. He was unconscious. Ambulance arrived there soon, and the young boy received heart massages. However it was too late. He died. He was twenty years old.

This is the difference. If you are a profesional footballer you have doctors who can save your life immediately. If you are playing football with your friends you don’t. Should be obligatory having doctors in sport facilities? Or maybe there is nothing to do to fight sudden deaths? There are enough security conditions in major football fields? Tell your comments.

In 1876 the Scotish man Alexander Graham Bell invented telephone. Elisha Grey and Thomas Alva Edison helped him to improve the sound quality. 11th 2005 U.SA. Congress approved that the real inventor was Antonio Meucci, who invented telephone in 1871. What happened was he had not economic resources to patent it. Anyway none of them could never imagine how this invent would evolve.

· FIXED PHONE :

Through fixed phone you can do calls to any phone number around the world. The most of homes have this sort of phone and telephone companies fix cheap prizes to their clients. For example in Spain you can do calls to another fixed numbers phone completely free as time as you want.

· MULTY FIXED PHONE :

Many phones connected by the same number. This is very useful in offices, universities, hospitals, … When you call to your phone company you have to wait long time since there are many people being attended by many operators. Even there is a machine which orders to you push bottoms or tell any words like your name, surname or your phone number. I personally hate talking to machines. They misunderstand me and I became nervous.

· ADSL OR HDSL :

You can have Internet through your fixed phone. The most of phone companies offer this service and the majority of people use it. At the beginning when you received a call, your Internet connection stopped. You had to connect again. And you just could use Internet since 6:00 P.M until 8:00 A:M. Nowdays you can use it the whole day and receive calls during your connection.

· MOBIL PHONE :

This was the real revolution. At first having a mobil phone was a luxury because they are so expensive. I can remember my first mobil phone. Something like a brick with bottoms and just three melodies. But I was happy with him. Sending SMS, attending calls, etc … I had to charge it everyday and I always was worried about its battery. Nowdays there are mobile phones very little and with a lot of stuff. For example you can listen to radio or your favorite MP3 music. You can take pictures or recording videos and send them through your mobile phone to another user. You can do videocalls just like Messenger or Skype. You can use Internet in your mobile phone or playing games. Another mobile phones have GPS services so you can look for any adress if you are lost.

Some health experts say there are many young people adicted to mobile phone. They spend loads of money in it and can not live without their phone. Some teachers tell many of their pupils make mistakes writing because of typical SMS language.

The major manufacturers are Nokia, Samsung and Erison. They sell most mobile phones in whole wide world. Mobile Phone Industry earn millions euros each year. They employ a lot of people in their factories. Telephone Companies earn loads of money too. Some people are upset with them because sometimes these companies offer interesting products and after people realise that have been deceived.

Anyway if Alexander Graham Bell, or Antonio Meucci could see how are the present phones, how work Mobile Companies and how many phones are made each day I am sure that they could not believe it . This consumer society is get used to buy a new mobile phone each year. They throw their previous mobile phone despite it works and they buy a new one, just because is a little bit better than the other. What should we do? Could we stop using mobile phones? Could we use only fixed phone or telephone box, just like in the past? If we could, we would not need mobile phone anymore. And we would not collaborate to enrich them with our money. The question is: could we live without mobile phones?

MADRID BIKE TOUR 2010-10-10

Today was held a popular marathon in Madrid. “Madrid Bike Tour” is a campaing to prevent drugs consume in young people. The goal is to make aware of this problem to young people through phrases like “enjoy and move just with your energy” . More than five thousand cyclists joined this campaing. Madrid’s city council provided bycicles to people who had not in exchange for seventy euros. After that they might get that bycicle. Spain heads the ranking of drugs adicts in Europe after UK and Italy. However this drug taking has reduced according to last survey. Spain government hopes to encourage doing sport in young people so that they get used to have a healthy life. Since 2004 every sunday morning is organized “Sport Sundays” in Madrid. The goal is getting young people practicing several sort of sports instead of sleeping the whole morning sunday after a crazy night of alcohol and drugs. This is a great idea and I wish such campaings were held in every city from Spain. Sport is the better drug that you could be addicted. So let’s do sport !!!!

SHAKIRA

I wanna talk about Shakira. She is a great performer I think and love her songs. She was born in Barranquilla ( Colombia ) on February 2th 1977. She is a singer-songwriter who makes her songs on two languages: spanish and english. She began on the music world in 1996 with her album “Pies Descalzos” , and succeeded on 2001 with “Servicio de Lavandería” . Because of this album she became famous in Rock-Pop music world. One of her most important songs was “Estoy aqui” which was played in many radio programs around the world.
Her next album “Donde están los ladrones” cost three million dolars. In this album there are songs like “ciega sordomuda” , “Inevitable” or “Ojos así” . This album was successful worldwide, especially in new contries such as United States, France, Switzerland or Canada. She sold more than seven million records. Because of this success Shakira was invited to perform and produce her first live album called “MTV Unplugged” . This was the first album recorded in USA by a latin performer.
Shakira made concerts that people enjoyed a lot seeing her waist movements and her dancing. It was said that she is the best dancer in Pop-Rock Music. Moreover she has a nice voice and her songs are very lively.

She did a lot of concerts worldwide and many successful “Tours” . Her most important Tour was in 2006 called “Oral Fixation World Tour” in which performed in several countries in five continents. There were concerts in one hundred and twenty five cities and many people attended her concerts. In some places set attendance records specially in Europa where she did 15 concerts in Spain and 10 in Germany. In America she also succeeded in Mexico where did 20 concerts. A concert in Zocalo attended more than 210.000 persons. She was success in Puerto Rico and in Colombia of course.

In 2009 she released “Loba” , so far her best work. A lot of records have been sold. She got gold album award in Spain, Germany, France, Russia, Britain, Poland, Argentina, Greece, Colombia, Mexico, and Orient countries.

In 2010 Shakira made the official song of the football world cup in South Africa called “waka waka” . She had “Freshly Ground” ‘s collaboration and in her video participated football players like Messi, Piqué, Dani Alves, …
This song became the main success in her career. This is my favorite song and whenever I listen it, remember the amazing summer that spain won football world cup championship.

In 2000 she had a love affair with Alejandro de la Rua, son of Argentina’s president. This thing was a great news in South America. Since then they are in love but no married. Shakira tells that they live together, happily and is not necessary to sign one document since they live like any married couple.

In 1995 Shakira opened “Pies Descalzos Foundation” in order to help colombian children and another children from the third world. Because of this foundation many children receive any kind of help. She was awarded by UNICEF and she said: “we can’t forget that this night when we are going to bed 960 children will be died in South America.” .
In 2007 Shakira donated fourty million dolars for people from Peru and Nicaragua and five millions dolars more for education projects in South America. In 2008 participated in a charity concert through “ASLAS” ( Latin America in charity action ) . In 2009 inaugurated “Pies Descalzos Education Institute” . This charity center is focused on helping poor people who live near Colombian’s beaches, specially fishermen.

I love this thing. Shakira is not just a great singer but a nice person too. Many wealthy people only are interested in buy large houses, expensive cars, and wear beautiful clothes. They never remember poor people and go on living along with their luxuries happily. Shakira don’t forget poor people and helping them, proving that she is a great person. CHILDREN ABUSE IN BELGIAN CHURCH

The news of this week is about children abuse into the catholic church. Belgian church revealed four hundred and seventy five cases reported since 1930 to 2010. Some of them were over two years old children . These abuse were commited by priests, religion teachers and monitors. According to Belgian church report, thirteen children killed themselves because of it . The most of reports were made just after bishop’s resignation Roger Vangheluwe. He admited that he had commited abuses to his nephew. He started to do this as his nephew was five years old and continued until he was eighteen years old. Four hundred and seventy five are a lot of children. However according to Belgian press, it could be one thousand cases. Two thirds of the victims were men and one third were women. The most abuses were made by Flemish religious community who is more powerful than French-speacking community. A Commission headed by Adriaenssens got to identify one hundred and eighty four rapists of those abuses. However three hundred and twenty could not be convicted because of not having enough evidence.

This is a sad news I know. I thought put up it because this kind of behaviour should end into the catholic church for ever. There have been a lot of abuses in many churches yet. Is time to finish this problem I think. Catholic Church should do something to prevent this for ever. They should know that remaining silent is not the solution. Ordering silent to children is not the solution. To prevent reports is not the solution either. This thing can not repeat again. Not anymore. In Belgium thirteen children killed themselves, but: How many would have killed themselves worldwide? Maybe we will never know this. Anyway is enough. INTERNET

Internet was born on 1990 and it was a real revolution. All kind of information is there. It is a kind of universal encyclopedia. You can do all sort of things and there are many people. Is expected that there will be two millions users in 2016. I would like to talk about things that you can do on the Internet.

Studying.

Nowdays Internet is very useful for students because they search what they need. You just have to write on “GOOGLE” whatever you want. If you are studying languages Internet is very useful. There are hundreds of webs that you can learn a lot. Some students even find exams, notes, or homework. Doing this is cheating, so I am not going to recommend this thing.

Working.

If you are a freelance you will know what is working from you home. You just need your computer and Internet connection of course. Working from your house is very comfy. You can wake up whenever you want, having a break, or even eating while you are working. And the most important thing is that you have not to stand your manager.

Go Shopping.

Many people use Internet to go shopping. You can buy all sort of things from you home. You fill out a form, put your number credit card, and a few days later you will receive your buy. If you hate crowd and women pushing you for getting that shirt which you are holding, this thing would be a good alternative. I prefer to see carefully my buy though I gotting in danger for being ran over by any people. Auctions are common on several webs. People sell their cloths, bycicles, MP3, computers, or any sort of things.

Arranging holidays.

Travel Agencies lose hundreds millions Euros because of people organize their holidays on the Net. You can find your ideal place just clicking and when you do, you have to fill out a form with your information. You put your credit card number and print the booking. You can book your accommodation or your trip. You need not a travel agency anymore. It is very easy and cheaper of course.

Downloading.

The majority of people download music, films, videogames, software, etc … There are many webs to get free things. P2p programs are very common and they are the most used. Because of Internet there are many companies losting money. Performers ask for government that they ban downloads so that people come back cinemas and Music Shops again. What government should do? If they ban downloads, maybe music, films, programs and videogames should be cheaper. When downloads become banned, Film and Music Industry will reduce their prizes? I think no. So I will carry on getting free things on the Net. I am sorry performers.

Meeting People.

All of us have an email account and a messenger program which use to chat with our relatives and friends. On these programs you can keep audio and video conversations. It is cheaper than using mobile phone. If you live far away from your family you can use this kind of programs. If you do, you will save a lot of money. Another people use chats, blogs, or networking sites to meet new people. On chats you can find interesting people even your soul mate, but be careful, there are a lot of liars. Some people have become disappointed as they met their on-line friend. Another even became bankrupt because they were swindled. On the saturday night you also can meet liars and dangerous people though you can see their face and ask for help if you are in trouble. However on the Net you are completely helpless. My advice would be: never give to nobody your account number or credit card, nor your real name, address, or any kind or personal information. If one day you decide meeting your on-line friend, you must choose a safe place with a lot of people. You are going to be with a stranger, so be careful.

Looking for a Flat.

A lot of students use it to get their accommodation. In the past people used advertisements on the newspapers. Nowdays is easier to use Internet. Firstly because you need not going out to buy any newspaper. You just have to “clicking” and you will find a lot of advertisements with pictures and things like that. If you are going to travel abroad this thing is very useful. You can talk to your landlord by email, Skype or Messenger and arrange all the details for when you arrive there.

Reading Newspapers.

Newspapers Industry is losing money since people prefer reading on the Internet. Why? Obviously, it is free. And we are having a horrible economy, so this is a good idea. You can read papers and magazines from all over the world. I am favor of this because of my ecological mind. Papers are made by wood and very trees are cut down. When you have finished one magazine you just throw it into the rubbish. If you use Internet to read you will save a lot of trees.

Playing Games.

Do you like Poker? If you do you can play on the Net and earn a lot of money. You also could lose it though. You can play all kind of games. Cards games, Trivial Games, Ludo, Chess, etc … Another people play videocames through the Net. They compete each other and it is another way to make new friends. This is very common in Japan where many teenagers remain the whole day at their room. They are called “Hikikomori” and their only friends are “Hikikomori” too. This is not a good idea I think. It is important to socialize and breathing fresh air from time to time.

LANCE ARMSTRONG

I would like to talk about Lance Armstrong. He has probably been the best cyclist in the whole history because he got seven “tours” consecutive beating to the others cyclists with a lot of authority.

He was born on Septembre nineteen seventy one in Texas. When he was a child, he began to practice swimming but years later I noticed that riding a Bycicle was his fauvorite thing. He participated on Barcelona Olimpic Games in nineteen ninety two ant after that he signed his first professional contract.

In nineteen ninety three participated in “Tour of France” for the first time. He won one racing and when he got to the finish, dedicated his victory to Fabio Casartelli, another runner who died lately.

In nineteen ninety six he was diagnosed with cancer on one testicle. Inmediately he was operated and that testicle was removed. After operation Doctor said that he had less than 40% chance to get surviving. He was underwent to a hard kind of chemotherapy. He had brain tumors and was operated to remove them. At the end of 1997 he got to beat cancer.

He went on his sporting career the next year. In 1999 he got his first “Tour” beating with a lot of difference to Alex Zulle. Armstrong felt better and stronger each day. In 2003 he got a big success. He equalized a record set by Miguel Indurain. One spanish cyclist who got five consecutive Tours. He beat that record winning two more Tours. In 2005 he announced his withdrawal. In 2006 ran New York’s Marathon to raise money for the fight against cancer. In 2009 Armstrong came back to cycling with the objective to promote the fight against cancer. He finished third and the next year he ended twenty threeth. This was his last Tour.

L’Equipe, a known french newspaper, accused him of taking doping substances. These accusation became false after.

Is not known with certainty if he took doping substances. I prefer to think no. He achieved one important thing: “beating cancer” . This achievement was more important that his seven Tours. He raised money to fight against cancer in the near future. He gave a good example to others cancer patients. He taught us an important thing. We always must fight during all our life. Life sometimes is hard and many people surrender at once. Armstrong taught us that we never must do that. He had a little chance to survive. However he got it. And if he beat illness, you also can do.
